So many times we hear that people fall into old routines, bad habits and that those same people lose focus because they become comfortable with their surroundings and with those around them. Well ladies take a look around, this is what our "boot camp" has become! We have fallen into a routine and picked up some really bad habits along the way. I will take blame as the leader and I will also take the initiative to get us back to where and why I started boot camp in the first place.
For those that don't know it has almost been one year since boot camp started! At the start it was myself, Jess & Amy trying to save money and then our group started growing and by the end of last September we had 12 members. We have some members hibernating for the winter which is okay as not everyone is comfortable working out in the cold. We spent the summer/fall months working on strength training, agility training, we ran, we bear crawled, we crab walked, we wall sat, we box jumped, mountain climbers, you name it we did it, kettlebell training, weight training, circut training, you name it we did it! And then......
Nov/Decemberish We started some same old same old routine of running for 20-30 minutes followed by a 30 minute circuit or weight training workout, however, most people with improper form, individuals not finishing full workouts or repetitions, people coming late, leaving early. Here you see a glimpse of where we've gone wrong :(
So yesterday I had a revelation!!! Lucky you :) A revelation that you can all still be my friends and we can all still be comfortable with one another and work hard to reach our fitness goals. I don't have to give up one to accomplish the other.
A set of new guidelines is being put in place and as you saw in today's workout we are back to business. I will post the guidelines on the blog in the next week or so. This is not to scare you away from coming to workout or to say that you "HAVE" to do something you don't want to do, but remember that you can have social hour any time you want and if you are going to get out of bed at 4.30 to workout at 5am well then come and put in 100% and work your butt off for an hour! I no longer want to hear the words I can't! I can't essentially means you won't!
Reaching fitness and weight loss goals is not easy, its a constant process of tweaking and pushing. I encourage each of you in the next few days to think about why you come to boot camp and what you would like to get out of it. I encourage you to once again set a weight loss or fitness goal and email it to me sumrya@yahoo.com I encourage each of you to find a picture of yourself either where you were or where you want to go and to bring that picture with you to boot camp and give to me.
I am looking forward to the road ahead and to getting back to business, been a lax couple of months!!
YYYYEEEEEhhhhhhhaawwwww!!! Let the games begin again!
