Amy's Story

Hello Ladies!

I am going to start by giving you a brief summary of “My Story.”

All my life I have been an “average” person, about a year ago I got to a point where I was starting to become uncomfortable with myself and the way I looked. I hated getting dressed and never wanted to go out. So, I decided to make a change. I started by doing weight watchers last November, which I have done in the past and has worked for me, but only short term. In April, one of my friends was doing a kettle bell boot camp so I decided to join. I did this boot camp for three straight months. Not to bust my own horn, but I never missed a day J I was motivated and the workouts were starting to show! Then my life changed … along came Summer who most of you know I have known for hmmm way too long. LOL. But we were starting a new journey together. We decided boot camp was too expensive and we could do it on our own. I had my doubts but, off Summer, Jessica and I went meeting at Norwalk High at 5AM for our morning workouts. The first week was a little rough, trying to figure out what to do and of course Summer and Jessica are runners so I knew I would be doing something I hated … RUNNING! I’ll never forget that very first morning Summer says hmmm okay lets start with a lap around. My first thoughts are oh great! So out loud I say well let me get my head start! I couldn’t even finish 1 lap. I was so disappointed with myself. Here I have been working out for 3 months and I can’t even run a lap. But of course Summer and Jessica were there to support me and help me start my journey of running. At the end of the first week it was decided that I was going to do my very first 5K. I had set a goal and I was sticking with it. After the first week I was so thankful Summer took control and started looking up workout ideas and planning our workouts. I had nowhere to go but up from here. I was being held accountable for something. If I didn’t go I would be missed, we depended on each other. For me this was the best motivation I could ask for, not to mention that all the running was melting off the lbs and getting me to a point where I was happy with the way I looked. I actually look forward to the days that I run and want to get faster and run further. Over the last few weeks I have learned so much about myself. I am motivated to do this for myself, I actually enjoy working out. I can’t tell you how many times I hear; “I don’t know how you get up at 5AM to work out.” My response always is “I like it!” with a smile on my face.

I am going to start writing every Friday to share my journey through my “new” life. I will give you my thoughts about our workouts and any personal obstacles I have had over the past week. I hope that my story can help motivate you to become the person that you want to be!!
